Temple A, w. cella, w. side, north 5-8, finished removing 1941-1, reddish soil, loose, many rough stones, many as large as 20 cm. square - nearly [fraction: 1/2] bucket sherds - half thrown out - handful of small tile frags - thrown out (all). No finds. Sieved, for which see P.

Temple A, w. cella, center, north 6.30-6.70, filling trench of early wall 1901-6 N (1757-6n) about 1/8 bucket full of sherds, no tiles or other finds - dark loose soil - redder near rock - no stones, in area 1.45 x 0.40 x 0.60.

SE Bldg., room 3, 1887-4 (cont. from P. 1952) sieved all of this stratum and found box of lamp frags. F 1057, some nondescript corroded iron frags (thrown out), small box thin blown glass frags. F 1058; box of bones F 1059. and coins F 1060-66 incl. Also [fraction: 1/2] bucket of sherds. Placed in bag marked

"Bag 3". Also 1 bucket of tiles which I am placing with other tiles from 1887-4. For 1887-5 see P. 2140.

20 May50. Removed w. of the Temp. A, room 2, 1939-7c, very hard fill, light colored, not many stones, rough ones only, one to two fist fists in size, about [fraction: 1/8] bucket of sherds, few tile frags. & water pipes, about a handful. No other finds.

Removed Temple A, w. cella, w. side, 1941-2, darker than strat. 1 and harder and with more stones including large ones bucket size and some worked blocks which I am placing up against e. wall of room 3 west of Temple. See Film 139-14. Removed [fraction: 1/2] bucket of sherds, & [fraction: 1/3] bucket tiles, no glass, or other finds. See also Film 139-15. Sieved this strat. for which see P. e

22. May50. Removed trench 11, E 14-20; S 0-11.30 (SE Bldg. court) strat 1, depth 0-0.16 m. Dark loose soil, few stones, small ones only, no debris; about 1/3 bucket of sherds only; about 2 buckets of tiles. Finds F 1076-7.

Removed also E 20-22 S 4.00-11.50, E. of court, strat. 1, debris, dark loose soil over fallen walls, 2 handfuls only of sherds, [fraction: 1/2] bucket of tiles, no glass or other finds.

Removed also Tr. 11, S 0-4 E 20-22, east of court, strat. 1, debris, small rough stones, loose dark soil - depth 0-20 cm. 2 handfuls of sherds only and about 1[fraction: 1/2] buckets of tiles.

Temple A, east cella, center, north 5-11, w. half, 1969-1, loose brown soil, many rough stones for which see Film 138 139-27;

about 1/3 bucket of sherds, and 1 bucket of tiles - placed tiles on west wall of center at 9.00 m. north. No other finds.

Removed Temp. A, w. cella, north 5-8, w. half, 1903-2, white fill, mostly chavara, no stones, a little red soil under white soil over early wall removed with it; about [fraction: 1/8] bucket of sherds; 3 small tile frags. only - 2 nondescript - 3rd placed w. sherds. No finds. For sieve see P. 2066.

Removed also w. cella, center, w. half, north 1-3, 1903-1, red loose soil with many rough stones of various size, about 1 bucket of sherds, [fraction: 1/2] bucket of tiles. Placed tiles on s. wall at s.e. corner of center. No other finds. For this area after removing 1903-1 see Film 139-28. Sieved 1903-1 N 1-3. Shall record finds from sieve later.
