p. 527 east part/- also debris over threshold between Room 3 and Propyleion. Finished digging stratum 3 b p. 485. Began digging stratum under probable floor level of South Building Room 2 centre H-Theta. Believe there was here at one time paving as in Rooms 3 & 4 and this was removed - sherds thrown onto the ground under paving and on this level at some later date fell the walls & columns - this would explain the floor level being below the foundation walls.

Page 506 May 6 cont. On this floor level found Constantinian ribbed ware wares - fallen debris of stones & tiles go down to this level but apparently not below. Digging depth of 5 cm. here first so as to be sure not to get any of the Constantinian wares found on the floor level that may be slightly under the surface. This stratum under floor level of 5 cm. depth is 3. See cross section p. 505. Began clearing lower part first stratum over floor south room of East Bldg. to floor - floor of lime concrete already cleared two years ago to north. Film 38, 30, 31. Found hollow place under ground

page 507 northwest corner of Propyleion not clear yet as to what this is. Continued clearing south end Street 1 - part left for wheel-barrows 2 years ago - Tr. 9 north 8-10. May 7th (Sunday) & May 8th no digging. May 9th. South Building Hall 2 I-K 2nd stratum begun - See Film 38, no. 33 showing top of 2nd stratum with large stone fallen from wall. South Bldg. room 3 center - note. 4th stratum. See cross section p. 489 looking as though it were another fill than

page 512 that immediately to east of it 4a, 4 a being harder packed and more small stones. Continued digging mouth part of Bldg. - to possible upper floor level -- this now appears to be only harder stratum 5 to 10 cm. over fine lime floor below. W. Bldg. Room 2, 3rd stratum begun. Continued removing surface soil and debris fr. Tr. 9 north 6-8, E-Z part used by wheelbarrow across street 1. See Film 39, no. 4 & 5.

Page 514 - corridor May 10th. Started digging 4th stratum cross section p. 491 - corridor 2, I-K, S. Bldg. Continued clearing floor south end East Bldg. Continued digging debris west part Room 3 West Bldg. and over threshold Began clearing debris west part Room 3 West Bldg. and over threshold leading to Room 4. See Film 39, no. 13, 1, Film 38, No. 30, 31, cross section p. 527. Took levels which Mr. Hill noted down - most being such as were required for him in his study of the doors of the South Building.

Page 522 Finished digging to about level Room 3 W. Bldg west part and over threshold between Rooms 3 & 4. See Began removing debris W. Bldg. Room 5 south side under surface soil. Film 39, no. 16. Finished digging 2nd & 3rd stratum of W. Bldg. Room 2 on and over floor of Room 2 north center were found a mass of coins - 4 definitely of these were C 538, 539, 541-543 20 coins these found on floor - rest on were all near or on floor according to workman who found them. Others found in same stratum C 537, 536 - 23 in all.
