page 440 June 6. Dug myself w. small pick to see whether there were any steps below upper step in antis of building I now believe to have been a Propyleion leading from west and down three steps beyond to Temple A stairway. Instead of step found large threshhold 8xm for double folding doors. See photos Film 31, 1-4, also levels p. 144 and cross section p. 145. June 7. dug to look for step of floor below Propyleion threshhold. Reached rock bottom. See cross section p. 143. 973? Along with surface soil removed from propyleion about 2 years ago workmen very likely removed without my knowing it many small stones fallen from walls such as can be seen immediately west of propyleion, an area dug later and with more care. For example of this see Film 31, no. 8, The boundary of this area of stones coincides exactly with excavation square - hence others must have been inadvertently removed. Two years ago many large cut stones were removed from Propyleion steps. See Film 7, No. Diary

page 446 June 22. Dug eastern court of Propyleion part of 2nd stratum. See phot. Film 32, no. 7, crosssection p. 143, fill 2. About like fill 2 but other elements found such as pieces of concrete made of small round COARSE SAND? stones(like course found) and lime. Also the same lime revetment made of very fine sand that covered the walls many STONES of which are found in this fill. Repaired steps of Temple B. Temple A stairway repair finished for present.

NOTE: more notes on Temple A stairway omitted from transcript: pp. 448, 449, 454, 455, 447. Also notes on Propyleion: pp. 450, 452.
