III. MISCELLANEOUS SHAPES
1. Amphora: Sh 252 (?) and earlier (?); 328, 390 (?) bichrome; 477 (?) 515 (?).
2. Krater: Sh 504, 537; 495 (?); 551. Sh 504 may be a deep bowl [handwritten: +] the shape of Sh 522 may be one of the above.
3. Pyxides or some closed shaped with squared shoulders: Sh 507, 530 (787), 706-7, 716, 746, 748. All of these except Sh 530 comprise a homogeneous group which may have come from the same atelier. I have never seen any parallels.
Note: Daniel regarded "Pseudo-Mycenean" as a subdivision of LC IIIi Dec. (Painted) ware. See Tr 2: 16 top to 9.60-9.86 Cf. also Sh 464. In this category were listed the following: Sh 67, 90, 106, 108, 110, 139, 341, 495, 730. Of these 67, 139, 341 and 730 are panel-style bowls; 106 and 110 are bowl ware of the better quality, 495 is an LCIII Dec. krater (?) fragment. 90 and 108 are Mycenean, possibly locally made. There seems no point in upholding this category, particularly as its name is confusing. Its existence at all merely emphasizes the fusion of foreign and native influences in LC III pottery. What in this publication is designated as Protowhite Painted ware Daniel at first called Kalorziki style ware, later submycenean. Neither term is as satisfactory as Protowhite Painted ware.
