BAMBOULA, TOMB 38 NB VIII, p.81

original plan much simplified for purposes of publishing

2 June 1939Tomb 38 is found ca. 10 m. east of Tomb 36.

A very large cutting is found through bed-rock, 0.60 below the surface. Brown earth with many stones goes to .... Here in the west a skeleton is found along the south side. It is only partly cleared; we underdig it. There were no clearly associated finds, but fragments of geometric pottery found in the disturbed (stony) earth above it probably belong to it.

In the western part hard gritty earth goes to a level with many L.C.II objects at 1.55 - 1.95.

Below 1.55-1.95 we find similar gritty earth to 2.60, where we encounter fallen konnos.

In the east at this level we find many large pithos fragments (Sh 660, also P 2803).
