BAMBOULA, TOMB 19
NB VII, p. 73 f.
5 April 1939 Tomb 19 lies in the middle of the first big north terrace of Lot 236. A rock cutting 3.70 x 1.60 is found, with two groups of erect stones on the long south side. If these are doors into the tomb, the southwest one is the latest, as the stone blocking the other goes below both the 0.70 and the [handwritten: 0.85] levels. A burial level is found 0.70 below the top of the bed-rock on the north. The objects nos. 1-3, and 22 are associated with the one skull (I) and few bones of this L.C. III level. Photo Bam. '39, 46, at 0.70.
6 April A second burial level is found at 0.85. Two adult skulls (II-III) and six baby skulls (IV-VII) are found, with associated bones. A string of sea-shells is found with the baby skeleton IV.

10 April A lower level, with skulls X-XXXIV is found 1.00 down. Objects 11-17, 25 belong with this level. Here again there are skeletal remains of many babies. The big stomion (?) stone at the south stops at this level, resting upon other large stones. Photo Bam. '39, 58 of Tomb 19 at 1.00.
13 April Digging below 1.00 we find still another level with many bones, at 1.20. Skeleton [handwritten: XXV], at the west, is in situ, lying on its side, facing the east. Only the upper body is preserved. There is a great mass of bones in the northeast, and the remains of two children in the middle south. Photos Bam. '39, 60-61 of Tomb 19 at 1.20. To this level belong skulls XXXV to XLIV and objects 18-21, 23-24. Dig below 1.20 and start to clear a level with a firm gritty floor, few bones, and a few pots resting against stones along the north side of the tomb. This is not yet the floor, which is found a few centimeters below, at 1.35. On 1.35 floor are found an adult and a child's skeleton, XLV-XLVI. The adult skeleton is minus head and right leg
