BAMBOULA, TOMB 13
NB VII, pp. 57 ff.
30 March 1939Discover two tombs (13 and 14) adjoining (cut by early plunderers or by accident in antiquity), at the west end of the easternmost rock ledge of the lower level in Lot 236.
These two tombs appear to be Nos. 53 and 102 of the British Museum Expedition. They are clearly plundered, and great masses of pottery thrown in heaps at the edges of the tomb. It certainly looks as if all native (and some imported) pottery were left in the tomb.
The plunderers did not clear all of the tomb(s), but left several pillars of earth standing to hold up the roof.
(Marginal note added later) These are not the British Museum tombs, and were apparently not dug then. See Tomb 17-17A.
