4. There is no certain correlation between "Pit near wall to 21:12" and the field note-book. It may be the same pit referred to in a pencil note in VIII,65 in E.II.1 below the 7.32 level. In any case the above pit is in E.II.1 and dates from the period represented by the 7.25 floor, when WS II was just beginning to appear. It contained the following:

20% Plain 8 sherds Wash [handwritten: Sh 644] 6 " Monochrome 2 " WS II 11 " BR I-II 7 " RP

D. The region of E.II.4-5, by wall e, was completely disturbed. The following list of sherds found while cleaning on the bed-rock is included here because of the numerous sherds of the L.C.I period, which indicate that the section was occupied in the L.C.I period.

70% Plain 1 sherd Roman red ware 12 " Black on Red, Iron Age 9 " White Painted, Iron Age 1 " L.C.III Dec. 3 " WS II 5 " WS I 15 " BR I-II 21 " Wash ware 25 " Monochrome (most of one pot) 1 " Light brunished 2 " RP
