AREA E HOUSE I (Daniel) Page 2

Handwritten: 21:21 (12)

Handwritten: By counting sherds 7.17 to 7.25 floor 3 belonging to Daniel's I.1 instead of to Daniel's II.1 the way is cleared to consider the early phase of Daniel's house II as a late phase of Weinberg's house I. This is especially pervasive because in a pit on the shelf bay and in quatrain D.wurtz mostly in a repairing of those were longer than ...

43% plain sherd 1 / h-m " R. L. III 2 " Wash ware (at least one w-m) 5 " Red Polished 8 " decorated sherds

C. Material presumably accumulated during the use of house I was found in the D bothros in E.I.7. The bothros was not sealed, so the one White Slip II sherd believed [handwritten: ...] is probably intrusive.

50% plain sherd 1 " White Slip II (two pieces, intrusive?) 12 " White Slip I 11 " Base Ring I 24 " Wash ware 1 " Monochrome 3 " Red Polished 52 " decorated sherds

D. The destruction of the house is dated by the following levels:

1) Sherds found in accumulation on the floor of E.I.6, between 7.07 and 7.08. The latest sherds here immediately antedate the destruction of the house. The sherds are:

sherd cooking ware 1 " White Slip I 1 " Wash ware 1

2) The sherds from the undisturbed part of the debris in E.I.2 have not yet been catalogued. All were of L.C.II date. The disturbed deposit around stone r contained the following sherds:

80% plain sherds 8 Black on Red (intrusive) 4 Painted (joins) belong to same pot as Sh 617 2 White Slip I 3 Wash ware 5 Red Polished 22 decorated sherds.

The region of E.I.13, by wall e, was completely disturbed. The following list of sherds found while cleaning on the bed-rock is included here because of the presence of numerous sherds of the L.C.I period, which indicate that the section was occupied in the L.C.I period.
