Supplementary Notes

The Circuit Wall: On the burnt floor and steps was found a great mass of tumble and bricks. The preponderance of sherds was pithoi (including P 2700 and P 2702. A Plain Wheelmade II jug, P 2704, was also found here. 98% Pithos ware Sh 618 and 636 (Inscribed), 4 sherds PWM II 2 sherds Syrian (?) Sh 752 7 " Wh P I Sh 613 1 " RP 1 " Myc. III 1 " LC III Dec.

The White Painted I sherds are probably intrusive, Sh 613 composes with the next level (see below). In any case, the overwhelmingly Bronze Age character of the sherds supports a dating in LC III of Stratum III (b) of the Circuit Wall.

A sloping stony pavement at the south and a stony sandy level in the north covered this complex. This seems to be a built level. It is not dated by sherds but the terminus ante quem for its use is provided by the sherds found in tumble sloping away from the cliff and covering down on it.

90 % Plain ware (including Plain White, G 74 and a lampholder frag.) 6 sherds Bl-on-R I Sh 612 2 " Wh P Sh 613 1 " LC III Dec. 1 " BR 1 " Wash 1 " RP. 1 " Burnished 1 " WS II 1 " Myc. III

Notice cross join of Sh 613 with the tumble over the floor.
