Here as the words are considered a quote from the voice of the Lord, the second person plural [handwritten: of the umper] is used, but it is the imperative mood accompanied by [handwritten: δεῦτε] . Of course, [handwritten: Κυρίου] this a conflation of the twenty-eighth psalm, [handwritten: φωνὴ] [handwritten: 288] in the cistern near Salamis and the sevenfold spirit of [handwritten: ἐπὶ τῶν ὑδάτων] quoted in the [handwritten: 289] inscription wisdom [handwritten: καὶ ἀναπαύεται ἐπ' αὐτὸν πνεῦμα τοῦ θεοῦ,] [handwritten: πνεῦμα σοφίας καὶ συνέσεως, πνεῦμα βουλῆς καὶ]

Handwritten: ἰσχύος, πνεῦμα γνώσεως καὶ εὐσεβείας. 290

This sevenfold spirit has a direct application for in the [handwritten: Grotto of Ferrara] [handwritten: 291] [handwritten: earlier of these two] service of baptism recorded in the [handwritten: same] manuscripts [handwritten: xx] there is the prayer, [handwritten: καταπέμψον ἐπ' αὐτοῖς τὸ ἅγιον καὶ] [handwritten: ἑπτὰ πνεῦμα, κτλ. 292] This is in the spirit of [handwritten: ἑπτὰ πλάθιον σοῦ πνεῦμα, κτλ. 292] God which descended as a dove at the baptism of Christ [handwritten: 293] Moreover, in this same [handwritten: xxxix] service, they prayed

Handwritten: κύριε τοῦ ἁγίου οἴκου τούτου, καὶ τῶν μετὰ πίστεως,

[handwritten: εὐλαβείας καὶ φόβου θεοῦ εἰσιούντων ἐν αὐτῷ] shown by the Grotto Ferrata manuscript of the Epophang Service. [handwritten: 294]

In other words, it is not impossible that the three names of the virgins in our inscription may represent a conflation of the 'five wise virgins'-it is to be noted that in neither the Barberini nor in the Grotto Ferrata [handwritten: xxxxx] manuscripts is their number mentioned- and the sevenfold spirit [handwritten: 296] of wisdom. The seven [handwritten: xxxx] virgins portrayed at El-Kargeh [handwritten: 297] [handwritten: may be] [handwritten: 298] may a case in point. Moreover, in another ceremony in which the 'wise virgins' took part metaphorically if not [handwritten: xx] actually, they are described as [handwritten: ἐν ἀρεταῖς ἐκλαμπούσης καὶ πιστεῖ ὁρῶν] [handwritten: 298] Moreover, as the sevenfold spirit resolves itself into four elements which four are shortened in the Grotto Ferrata manuscript into [handwritten: πνεῦμα ἁγίου. πνεῦμα σοφίας. πνεῦμα ἀμα] [handwritten: φόβου θεοῦ] [handwritten: τοῦ ἐπιφανέντος ἐαρί, 299 one of which is, almost,] [handwritten: the destruction of the other three, is the singular and may be related]
