The stylobate walls
The stylobate walls (plan fig. ) are with slight variations all much the same in character in all five exedraw. They are wherever examined in rubble masonry which reaches down to bedrock or to walls of earlier buildings. By far the greater number of stones range between fist and foot in size. The top of the walls approach an average width of approximately 0.92 m. and the foot of the wall is often not much wider. (sections. )
As one will perceive (plan fig. ) the stylobate of each exedra is [handwritten: Π] shaped with 2 arms that extend to the north end which extend to the east and west wall of the exera, respectively. It encircles the main central floor of each exedra and separates this floor from the raised [handwritten: Π] shaped platform behind it. The central floor was paved. This paving is extant in exedra 1 and 3. That part of the wall which appears above the pavement is faced with orthostates as in exedrae 2 and 3 (plan fig. and sections ). Over this course of plinth which is best preserved in the east orthostates was a course of plinth which is best preserved in the east stylobate of exedra 3.
