East wall of exedra 5 continued.
with that of the wall plaster which is also in the same lime concrete [handwritten: e] (Film 168-6). There is no doubt, accordingly, that concrete floor and plastered wall are contemporaneous and antidate the construction of the wall under discussion. After the completion of the north end of the wall the earlier wall was built up again against its west face for it was made here to support a stairway, no longer extent, to the east arm of the Γ shaped platform of exefra 5.
The foundation and part of the first course of the east wall of exedra 5 is buttressed by another wall which is built up against its west face from 7.45 m. to 16.00 m. north of the south face of the south wall (Plan fig. ; Film 168-4). It is preserved to a maximum height level - 0.05 m at 13.32 m. north where it is re-enforced itself by a buttress which is bonded into it (film 168-5) . Both buttressing wall and buttress consist of rough masonry and reach down everywhere to bedrock.
