in the region. The results of these studies will be compared to those obtained by M. Artzey from Iron Age ceramics found in and around Palaipaphos. The future plans of the CPSP include a study-season in 1984, followed by the final field season in 1985. This field season would be used to test the models of settlement location and resource exploitation that have been generated by the CPSP researchers for the different chronological periods represented in the study zone. Particular emphasis (Fig. 2) would be given to the middle portion of the Ezousas drainage, the Dhiarizos drainage and the area to the South of the Pillow Lava zone at the top of the three drainages. When the various components of the CPSP's research are completed a clear picture of the settlement systems and resource exploitation patterns of the Paphos District over time should emerge. These patterns coupled with crucial research on the probable levels of social, political and economic organization in the different chronological periods21 will finally enable students of Cypriote archaeology and culture history in conjunction with data from other regions to reconstruct in an accurate fashion the pattern of settlement for the island as a whole.
