Printed: 12. Description of Proposed Project (Do not exceed space provided)

Study of the material remains of the Archaic Precinct at the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates, Kourion, Cyprus. The results of the previous excavations conducted by the University of Pennsylvania Museum in the Archaic Precinct will be incorporated, along with the five years of excavation by the Walters Art Gallery and its co-sponsors (1978- 1982). A study season was held in 1983 during which eight scholars and specialists studied the material remains revealed by the excavation in preparation for final publication. The study season proposed for 1984 would enable us to complete conservation, photography and drawing of all objects, as well as allow the terracotta specialist to complete study of the vast quantity of votive gifts. The final monograph has been accepted for publication in Studies in Mediterranean Archaeology.
