January 16, 1979Professor G. Roger Edwards, The University Museum, University of Pennsylvania, 33rd and Spruce Streets, Philadelphia, Pa. 19104 U.S.A.

Dear Professor Edwards,

Greetings to you. A very hectic December prevented me from replying to your letter with its good news concerning the financial support for the Kourion Mosaics.

I am sorry to say I still have not been in direct contact with my draftsman who is doing the drawings, as he has moved from Cyprus, to England. However, I have been informed that he is working on the drawings. I expect that I will gain possession of the drawings in the next six months and that I will pay him for his services on July 1st. One point remains unsettled with him as to whether or not the budgeted amount for the production of the drawings is an equitable amount for his work. If it is not, would it be possible to make a reasonable supplemental request in addition to the amount already allocated? In a similar vein, it has occurred to me that I could do the preliminary work on the mosaics of the House of the Achilles Mosaic the next time I am at Kourion while I am finishing up my work on the Eustolios mosaics. Would it be out of place at this time to request supplemental funds to cover the cost of xeroxing the notebooks and 7-10 additional days room and board and car rental expenses and supplies? I await your comments.

I look forward to getting on with the work!

What are your plans for your retirement? I hope that I can see you in Philadelphia before your retirement.

Cordially,
