November 4, 1978Dear David:

Your reply came just in time, for a meeting with our financial man about budgets for 1979-1980. I discussed your needs with him. Later on this month I will have also to submit requests to the Director toward a meeting of the Research and Publications Committee in December.

A couple of points need to be clarified.

1. Is your guesstimate for summer, 1979, or for your sabbatical 1980-1981? Or both? When will you need the money?

2. Is this budget supposed to cover all your remaining work on the project. I assume so since you speak of final photography and typing of mss.

3. I am unclear as to your decision about undertaking the architecture of the "Palace." It certainly would be good to get that under covers (or between I should say).

No, I don't think it will be necessary for you to write separately to the Director. If you can get me the answers to the above promptly those and the budget you have already given me should be sufficient to turn in to him.
