August 21, 1978Dear Dorothy:

I am glad to hear from you and to know that you have survived what must have been a very hot and perhaps difficult summer.

I am also glad that you like in principle the idea of publishing the bronzes from the Sanctuary of Apollo. We can, of course, consider further what you feel you would like to undertake. To that end I send you herewith xeroxes of the pages of our inventory which include bronzes from the Sanctuary. They are listed under M for metal and the entries which have [handwritten: ap] following the M number are the ones you want to consider. You should be able to get an idea from this list of how many and what kind of things have been found there. We have a half dozen or so of them here in Philadelphia including the Artemis M 52.

I do not think you need worry about a publishing committee or a publisher in this connection. Martin Biddle does want to put everything out in a Museum series. Just how that will work I don't know. We'll know better after Gordon I (not faraway) goes through the mill.

I don't seem to remember a dancing comedian. As to the picture I sent you possibly it was in the London Illustrated News article, April 5, 1952, which George w rote. I don't think it has been published otherwise. It seems to me I have seen other rather similar figures, though.

Best greetings, as ever,
