May 12, 1978Dear Miss Kondoleon:

Mrs. Jennifer Gudek, the Director's secretary, has given me a copy of your letter of January 15 today and has asked me to write to you about the Kourion mosaics.

You say that the situation is unclear. Actually it is clear-cut enough. The mosaics were excavated by the University Museum. I am in charge of the publication of the site. Their publication has been entrusted, for two or three years now, to Dr. David Rupp of Brock University. Properly any communications about them or discussions concerning them should be addressed to him. I do not see that we can well have two people working on independent publications of them at the same time. But he, although another scholar has already caused us embarrassment in this respect, is a most amiable young man and I am sure he will do what he can for you. I am rather surprised that Dr. Karageorgis did not explain all this to you since he of course knows of Dr. Rupp's undertaking about the mosaics.

I suggest that you write to him direct, as follows:

Dr. David W. Rupp Brock University, Region Niagara Department of Classics St. Catharines, Ontario L2S 3A1 CANADA

Yours very truly,

G. Roger Edwards
