CYPRUS

December 17, 1976Dear Mr. Fortin:

I am sorry that I cannot be of much help to you about Bamboula. We entrusted the publication to a scholar some 25 years ago but as no publication was forthcoming we terminated the arrangement this year. All the records, he told us, are stored in Jerusalem and he cannot return them to us until his next visit in about two years. We have made no further assignment of the publication of Bamboula as yet. And obviously our hands are tied until we can get the records.

I cannot therefore answer your questions. You are, however, welcome to inspect the copies of the plans in the Curium Museum (your question 1). I understand that you would not wish to publish any formally, at least without obtaining our specific permission. I see no objection to your making a copy of the plan on which the entire circuit wall appears for your dissertation.

The delay with regard to Bamboula is certainly regrettable. Hence I am glad if knowledge of it will to some extent be made available in your dissertation.

Yours very truly,

G. Roger Edwards Associate Curator Mediterranean Section
