Dear Peter:
Thank you very much for your letter of July 22 with its most agreeable news concerning prospects for the Basilica and information about the capital from Curium.
It had occurred to me earlier that it might very well help to interest people in the Basilica project if you would undertake to prepare a semi-popular short article about it for our newly reorganized Museum bulletin, now called Expedition. I mentioned this to Fro Rainey and to our public relations man, Mr. Louis Day, who both thought it a good idea from various points of view, and have encouraged me to suggest it to you.
I send you seprately a copy of a recent issue of Expedition to give you an idea of the style and format. I think that should our membership probably knows very little indeed about early Christian churches and would welcome a very general account into which the Curium basilica could be fitted. Plus any thoughts you may have for future activities there.
Even though now the heat is off for finding funds it still seems a good idea, if only to have in our publication an account of an undertaking in which the Museum has an interest. I can assure you of our interest and hope you can see your way to doing something of this sort.
Many thanks again, and cordial regards -
Sincerely,
