Dear Peter:

I have now checked and made ready for shipment the coins and sherds which are due to be returned to you, as follows:

Your letter 29 Feb 56, ref.: 207/56/3, Serial Nos.:

31.Coins. Export Licence No. 2840

32.Coins. Export Licence No. 2816

34.Sherds and graffiti.

COINS: I assume that you will have on file a copy of the list of coins for checking purposes. If not, I can supply one from that attached to our copies of the export licences. I have recently sent you by surface mail a copy of our inventory lists of these coins, giving Curium inventory numbers and Miss Cox's identifications. A second copy has been sent to Joe Last. The coins themselves I expect to send by air.

SHERDS: For these I have made a new list, in numerical order, to replace the one made up for export purposes. Of this I send two copies herewith, one for your files, one for checking purposes. You will note that the new list differs from the old in respect to the graffito list, which is revised in accordance with our recent correspondence, and in the omission of P 1053, which you have kindly granted to us. I have added also two small bags of sherds which belong with tomb groups selected for the Cyprus Museum. Please note also that a few items are circled, meaning that I have been unable to locate them. I will consult with J. Benson about them; when we are able to find them I will send them on separately.

Along with the sherds I am sending the plaster cast of the inscribed pithos fragment from Kourion (Univ. Mus. 55-9-1, with P 1053 incorporated) which you wrote you would like to have. These I expect to send by boat. I will forward the necessary information and papers when available.

For Serial No. 37 of your letter, skeletal material, you will recall that we have asked for an extension of one year. 5 and 10 you reported had in fact been returned earlier. We have, then, accounted for all the items in that letter.

I much appreciate your sending the copies of the new Curium guide. It is a model for such; I am full of admiration. It came at a good time, too, since in December we revised and improved our Curium exhibit in honor of the annual meetings of the Archaeological Institute here in Philadelphia after Christmas. Could you send me perhaps 10 more copies to give to interested visitors? Bill, too, of course.

Best greetings -
