5 November 1956Dear Hannah:

Herewith a batch of suggestions which have occurred to me. I hardly feel competent to pass on your work, but make the suggestions I do merely as one equally interested. I.e., many things are matters about which I would like to know myself, or think that a reader unacquainted with Curium would like to know.

1) The spelling Kourion instead of Curium has been adopted in other publications of the site.

2) Bibliography:

a) Think it would be well to include here, or at the end of the Introductory Note a complete list of Curium publications. I can help you with this.

b) Should not P.-W., s.v. Kurion be included? Also perhaps s.v. Hylates? [handwritten: DHC: No]

c) Is Hill's History of Cyprus, 1949, a revision of the 1940 edition or merely a reprinting? If the latter, as I suspect, maybe this should be indicated. [handwritten: DHC: No]

3) Introductory Note: [handwritten: DHC: 4 pp]

a) Think it might be well to insert a map showing the entire area and the parts excavated. I have located one which may do, though have notion that a still better does exist.

b) General: Feel one would like to know a great deal more in a general way, and would like to see this note recast and amplified. No doubt such a thought will be painful to you after all your labors. I will be glad to be of assistance, however, where I can.

I would suggest recasting roughly according to some such outline: [handwritten: DHC: could be]

1.Geographical setting of Curium: reference to Cyprus Gov't. map, which I have. Seaport (mole in harbor).

2.Topography of Curium and summary of areas excavated. Refs. to publications of site available and those in progress. [handwritten: DHC: now in London (2-4)]

3.Outline of history of Curium - very general, but giving chief sources, some refs. to principal secondary sources.

4.Archaeological information now available in publications supplementing historical sources.

5.Brief notes on information provided by coins as to:
