January 9, 1956Mr. Jack Benson The University Museum 33rd and Spruce Streets Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Dear Jack:

You're wonderful! I was delighted to have your letter outlining your accomplishments, but I must confess a feeling of shame at my own inability to get at Bamboula. I hope, however, that your own work will be an incentive to me to get on with my part of the project. At best, however, I do not see how I can get in anything until the summer which I hope to devote to clearing up several publications. This year has been the worst I know as far as research is concerned for I have been able to do practically nothing. Even the preliminary report of my Cyprus dig still remains only a hope.

But I look forward with eagerness to seeing what you have done and I shall make every effort to go over it and integrate it with my own material so that any questions that might come up can be discussed before you leave for Greece in September. I still have in mind a trip to Princeton and Philadelphia and I hope then to be able to talk things over with you.

Until then, all the best.

Yours,

Saul
