November 27, 1956Dear Jack:
With ref. to yours of the 19th:
Graffiti: Peter has written ceding G 69 and 71 to us. He feels they are entitled to two others as substitutes; he suggests G 4 and 28, unless they belong to tomb groups. G 4, according to the catalogue, seems ok, but, as you note, G 28 is from Tomb 2. So I will write asking him to pick out another.
54-28 series: G. Bruckner has agreed to assign another series to your material of 1954, to wit: 54-41-. So, any number you have used in the 28 series should be changed to 41. I will continue to use 28 numbers for anything further I catalogue which doesn't concern you.
She has also asked me to ask you to supply her with a complete concordance for her files giving:
| Curium Field No. | Univ. Mus. No. |
This should keep us straight during your absence.
Incidentally I note that two terracottas from Bam. Tomb 44 (T 2017 and 2018) were given numbers in the 28 series along with the Young tc's. 54-28-123 and 124, respectively. These, of course, don't appear in the Young publication, so if you have already given them other numbers or want them changed to suit your series, it's all right with me. If, however, there are any other tc's which belong to you which have already appeared in the Young book, the numbers given them in the book should, of course, be retained.
BM transfer: Peter writes that he has no objection to this. In fact, one doesn't have to have his permission; he has specified, however, that he should be informed. He still has hopes of arranging for a transfer in connection with the "window crater."
Will send off Gl 189 along with Menander one day soon when Ellen has located the former. Surface, I presume.
We expect that A. Ackerstrom, who is this year at the Institute, will lecture to us in February on the potters' factory at Berbati - no doubt a burning issue with you. Perhaps you will be able to pump RSY about it when he comes through.
