3 October 1956Dear Franny:

Ted Kidder has passed on your letter to him of 19 September. As to your financial report to the APS, they say they require one "when funds have been expended." If you still have funds left from the grant, as you seen to, it would not seem to be necessary to submit to them the final itemized account until such have been used up.

I think it might be a good idea in the meantime, since your grant was for 1955, to send in to them a note stating that the preparation of the publication is not yet complete, funds for the purpose have not yet been fully expended, and [handwritten: that] you expect to be able to send them a fully accounting ca. [handwritten: 19 ?]

I should not think that photographic and drawing expenses would be considered "publication" expenses proper.

Sincerely,

With good greetings -
