11th February, 1954The Chief Clerk. L. R. O.: LIMASSOL.

Sir,

Estate of George H. McFadden L. R. O. File Application 2116/53

I have the honour to refer to my letters to you dated 1st October, 1953, and 5th October, 1953, and to the certified copy of the order and of the will of the deceased George H. McFadden forwarded to you in connection with the deceased estate and to apply that the immovable properties of the deceased George H. McFadden at Episkopi, District, under registration 4274 dated 31/8/1946, 5463 dated 22/6/1938, 5464 dated 22/6/1938, 6076 dated 31/8/1946 and 6077 dated 31/8/1946, together with all buildings and trees standing thereon and belonging to the above-named deceased be transferred to and registered in the name of the Government of Cyprus in pursuance of the bequest made under clause three of the said will.

For your guidance the bequest in question was made under certain conditions contained in clause 3 of the will and the Commissioner of Limassol to me No. 218/53 of 2nd February, 1954, accepted the said bequest under the conditions laid down in the will.

I should, therefore, ask you to cause the above transfer and registration of the said properties to be made in the name of the Cyprus Government subject to the conditions laid down in clause 3 of the will of late George H. McFadden or, if that is not legally possible, to make a record in the appropriate books of the Land Registry Office Limassol that the said transfer to and registration in the name of the Government of Cyprus is made by virtue of the said bequest of the deceased George H. McFadden and is subject to the conditions laid down in his will viz. that the Cyprus Government shall maintain and use the said properties for archaeological and educational purposes and make the same available to the University Museum of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, for the completion of its archaeological research connected with the site at Curium and also that the said properties shall not be sold by the Cyprus Government under any circumstances.

I have the honour to be, Sir, Your obedient Servant,

/s/ P. L. Cacoyannis P. L. CACOYANNIS, Administrator with the will annexed of the estate found in Cyprus of the late George H. McFadden.
