Dr. Froelich G. Rainey, Director, University Museum, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa.
Dear Dr. Rainey:
A short time ago I had a letter from Roger Edwards asking whether I knew that the excavation had been done by Decourcey Fales, Jr., and that he had been working on the publication for some time, I asked Rodney Young and also Mr. Bert H. Hill what Mr. Fales' status now was, and was assured that he was no longer connected with the publication.
Since Mr. Fales visited me in Princeton over a year ago and consulted with me about the theatre I would naturally wish to be completely certain that were I to accept this offer I would in no way be guilty of an archaeological or scholastic discourtesy toward him.
I should say, at this point, that there are one or two personal and family problems that I would have to work out should I undertake to go to Cyprus this summer, but before attempting to solve these I must be quite positive that Mr. Fales has no possible actual or implied lien on the work.
Sincerely yours,
