You might also let me know what I should need to do about it here, from your experience. Triptych and whatever, of which I know nothing.
1955-56, anyhow, so no harm is done. He is coming here for a while on the 3rd.
I don't think John Seltman would plan to come to America before 401 coins this time, in four separate packages (three are tins for bismuth, which the Cyprus Museum raked up from a pharmacy. They are coming no better off than we for packing materials!). Enclosed is their export registered mail this time, first class, with attached list. I have sent Hannah a second permit as before, but he doesn't copy of the list. I guess they'll arrive ca. 1 May.
Mr. Hill writes that he may come some time in April, for ca. three or four weeks. I had hoped, for the sake of Apollo and the Theatre-Baths, that he could manage longer, or two trips, but I don't see it that way. I have made somewhat indignant noises, but I don't suppose they'll have much effect.
We had a demonstration of army mine detectors in excavations at Hannah's mint and at Apollo last week. An army officer, friend of Joe's Joe's wanted to see what they would do, so we let him try. They are supposed to detect any type of metal which will conduct electricity. Those they used did detect bronze all right, but seemed not to be capable of detecting small pieces much more than two inches below the surface. There are apparently later, more powerful models, however, which probably could detect metal at a much greater depth. I should think maybe a really powerful one would be handy to have around an excavation, especially if one were hunting tombs.
Give my love to Dinga and Flower of Spring. Regards to the boys.
