Dear Rodney:

Yrs. of 24th. Thanks for further inquiry into Sotira. We do know where we stand now, for sure. [handwritten: I have told Dikaios to go ahead with his] plans for excavation in May. [handwritten: I have also discussed the Sotira publication with Peter, telling him all that you said.] [handwritten: I thought it not well to tell Dikaios all, since he can be touchy, so I followed Peter's advice I merely told him that 200 (not 220) Khirokitia size pages, and 50 (not 75) plates would fit into the Monograph series, and that the Museum's {hw: "s/"] guidance in preparing the Ms., was on the side of condensation. When I saw him yesterday he seemed to have gotten the point, without further need for emphasis on this aspect.

Will tell Habeit $160. as you suggest.

Household expenses: If you prefer to postpone discussion of share until I return, OK. I should prefer not to have the whole accumulated amount curloud up on my doorstep when I come back, though, so in the meantime I will at least send you what I would owe you under the previous arrangement, and we can adjust the difference later. Enclosed, therefore, check for $200., which should bring me up to date to March 31.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear about Virginia's list. What I would like are the items a copy of the list, so I don't need that. A good many of the items relate to still unpublished material from Ayios Epiktitos... [handwritten: ...]

We will rattle our brains some more on behalf of Cyprus Airways stock. If I understand aright from Sir P., nobody as yet is willing to offer. I will see what he thinks about the English market make any offer. The formalities of selling the Passouri stocks are not prospects, since she feels poor, and since she will be yet finished, permission from the government in Nicosia being involved. I hear now, sometime in April, when they are, as promised. working on the stamphora handles and on Emroyenis while here.

Will let you know when they are.

Transferring the rover to Gordion seems reasonable. Its assessed value is slightly more than the debt. And certainly it can get it serviced, but it would be a great saving for Gordion's [handwritten: ...] if we can cancel the debt. The only difficulty which I can think of and that may not be a serious one, is whether or not we can get it serviced, etc.: satisfactorily in Turkey. I don't recall that its parts were very common there. Where would you suggest storing it, if I did take it to Gordion garage? Or does the Turkish government get the Jeep, I forget. Should I sell the Jeep and put Rover in the Turkey?

If you wish to go ahead with arrangements for its entry permit into Turkey, here is the pertinent data: Registration No.: D 195 (1July 1952): Landrover, Tourer: 16 horsepower; manufactured in U.K.; 6 passenger; weight 2500 lbs; ordinary course of events, No.: 261629 48; manufactured new 1952. I should probably, in the purpose of taking it to Turkey until September, not want to extract myself from Curium for the purpose of taking it to Turkey until September, anyhow.
