September 25th, 1953Sir Panayotis L. Cacoyannis, Kt. LL.B. Limassol, Cyprus

Re: Estate of George H. McFadden, Deceased

Dear Sir Cacoyannis:

Thank you for your letter of September 5th in which you acknowledge receipt of the sum of 500 pounds less charges sent to you on July 31st. I note that you have undertaken to pay the claims of the persons engaged in the search for Mr. McFadden's body. On September 9th I sent you a list of payments made by the University Museum which included a payment of 245 shillings to the 8 men who searched from Episcopi from April 19th to April 21st. I trust that any payments which you have made will not duplicate the payment made by the Museum and charged against the amount due by it to Mr. McFadden's estate. I note that you will send a statement showing the receipt of the above sum and the payments made by you as soon as all claims are settled.

You ask whether we will consent that the horses and dogs be sold to suitable persons who will look after them instead of by public auction. We are entirely satisfied that this be done provided that you as ancillary administrator would not be subject to criticism.

I refer to the letter which I wrote Mr. Wagner on July 13th, a copy of which I forwarded to you. I now enclose another copy of the inventory and list prepared by Mr. Sprecher on which I have marked (a) the articles which Mrs. Caroline B. Ewing desires to
