December 18th, 1953Honorable Sir Panayotis L. Cacoyannis Kt., LL.B. P.O. Box 122 Limassol, Cyprus
Re: Estate of George H. McFadden, Deceased
Dear Sir Cacoyannis:
Thank you very much for your letters of November 16th and December 5th with their enclosures.
The final statement of account prepared by Mr. Sprecher shows that effects shipped by him to Mrs. Ewing were inventoried at $1.00. You have stated that the 2 Aladdin Lamps and the books which the property on the inventory with the exception of the articles you will send to Mrs. Ewing have been valued at $40.75. Thus, Mrs. Ewing should pay the Estate $41.75.
In order to enable the Museum to purchase from the Estate the articles on the list which you sent me which are valued at 1285L, 13 s., or approximately $3,619. it will be necessary for the Executors here to select the Museum as one of the charities to be benefited under the 3rd paragraph of the SECOND Item of the Will. The Executors are willing to do this and to pay to the Museum an additional legacy of approximately $3600. Upon receipt of this amount the Museum will use the funds to pay for the articles which they intend to purchase.
In your letter of December 5th you indicate that payment by the Museum should be effected in Cyprus and I, therefore, assume that the payment to be made by Mrs. Ewing should also be effected in Cyprus. This raises the question of whether upon settlement of the ancillary administration in Cyprus any balance may be forwarded by
