June 8th, 1953Dear Roger,
We are very grateful for your prompt answer and even more so for your quick action on the photographs. This takes a load off our minds. We know that your photographer is topnotch. We shall write to Mr. Goldberg at once and can send him most of our film almost immediately. The work is simply a question of enlargements, which shouldn't cause much difficulty but costs money when done commercially. It will be really excellent to have him do them, especially since our Hopkins photographer has already been tried and found wanting, as well as expensive. If Mr. Goldberg is not the one to write to and it must be done through Channels, would you still have time to write us a card or instruct someone else to?
We're glad that you're going to be at Curium. We ourselves are particularly interested in the material from the Apollo Sanctuary and know quite a lot about them should you get enmired in the rather individual system of keeping records at Curium. We actually went through all of George's Apollo notebooks and catalogued a great deal of the finds, rather beyond our course of duty but very worthwhile from our own point of view. We have a good many notes and catalogue cards here, and when you get on the job we'll be glad to let you have any information we possess. If we go to Italy next year there may be a complication about handing on to you any information we have, but we will still be here in early September. You might also remember that I have all the notes on the Stadium and will eventually publish it.
We hope you will enjoy Episkopi as much as we did, although you have a melancholy task.
Sincerely,
