June 5th, 1953Dear Roger,

Thanks for sending the sketch of the mold, which proves my long-time contention that Joe can't draw, save mechanically. We had a letter from George only a few days before the disaster, in which he told us about it and offered to send it over if we wanted it. We never had a chance to answer him, but seeing this drawing we realize we will forget it. So we will not do with our figurines, so we will forget it.

We were pleased to hear that you will be in Curium next year and we would like to know what the fate of Curium Excavations and all that it involves will be. I have finished my classes and we are getting back to our work on the figurines for the last time. This summer the publication will be sent to the Museum some time. Our only difficulty is going to be in obtaining some further funds for photographic work. In his last letter George offered to advance whatever we would need, but as I said it came to late to answer it. Since you are shortly leaving and Rodney won't be back until Fall I wonder if you can suggest some way that we could obtain money for enlargements etc. - not more than a hundred dollars, if that, I should think. There is nothing else to hold up the publication, most of which is done.

I talked with Rodney about the division of the terracottas; I could make a list of desirable pieces from my point of view, but I really don't know what the Museum would want, and, of course, Cypriote law requires that the Cyprus Museum can have anything they want. I have applied for a Fulbright to go to Italy next year and if I get it it might possibly be worthwhile for one of us to come over to Cyprus for the division, but that again depends upon what, and how much, you and Rodney want of the terracottas. It is possible there will still be a few things that we shall need to know from Curium in September. If so, we shall much appreciate your offer of assistance.

Yours,
