… a flat sum because it shifts responsibility to the traveller for means, class etc. of travel - he knows what he can spend and can add to it or make a saving as he wishes. The other way one is always shelling out that $10 for fare from Istanbul etc. which becomes a bore. If you know approximately the fare from NY to Nicosia and allow about $50 more I think you will not be extravagant and will save a lot of fuss. It has entered my head that Rebecca will be in Athens and might be intrigued or interested in going to Cyprus - but I don't know when she is to marry earl Henry.

4) Film: if the Afghanistan shipment is to be caught up with in Kabul, I will certainly want some film to take from here especially if we are to go to Mohenjodaro and Taxila on the way - as well as Khyber pass, Peshawar etc. I brought 15 Kodachromes for here and have used 6 - better not plan to take any from here (if any not used up you can take it to Cyprus) so should think 4 more Kodachromes. - Plenty of plus x here (so don't bring any for here) but don't like refills in commercial casettes as they seem to jam in the camera - so suggest 4 36-exp. rolls of plus x for trip. Do not expect to use big camera before arrival. So order would be 4 Kodas + 4 plus x for travel, and no need for replenishment of local supply here.

5) About King Midas - will be nice to have his portrait, but I wouldn't change anything in the text of the Bulletin article - we can't be sure even after the BM pot anyway, and the Bulletin is not the place to bring up the heavy ammunition of footnotes, references etc. - After all, it is meant primarily for the members of the museum, and should be fairly simple-minded.

6) About the mirror - if you have not made any commitments to Dik. H., don't - I think we can have a lot of fun with it ourselves, and anyway we should be responsible for the publication of U.M. things.

Markfield arrived in due course on Wednesday, with the lamb gerbes unknown, & we put him & them right to work. No word yet of Cyrus, or of ZaSu: they should turn up any time now. In haste, as it has crept up to be Wed. p.m. and time to go to Pretiti - anyway you will see for yourself in 2 weeks time - RSY
