could perhaps then work on the remaining material in Nicosia. This, however, would mean that this project could not be completed during the proposed year's program.

The question of whether or not to accept the proposal of Mr. DeCourcy Fales was discussed at great length. Our sentiments were against accepting it, but it was decided that Fro would write to Mr. Hill and get his recommendations before a definate decision was made. Also that Mr. Hill be asked to find out if Virginia Grace would be willing to take on the theatre-palace publication, if Fales' proposal were rejected. Mr. Hill would also be asked for further suggestions if Miss Grace is unwilling to undertake the publication. It was suggested that perhaps some architect could be found in Athens, such as John Travlos, Mr. Stevens or Marian Holland, who would be able to spend part of the time in Curium and could perhaps work up the material expeditiously.

The possibility of adding Ellen Kohler to the staff at Kourion was discussed and it was decided that presumably you had already discussed this with her and thought it inadvisable because of her responsibility for her mother. It was decided that it would be more desireable to have her in Philadelphia in view of the fact that we may have to have a part time substitute and it was decided to ask that she assume responsibility for the functioning of museum projects here in that event, including the direction of Mr. David Crownover's activities as Student Assistant in the department. It was thought that editorial projects would not be extensive during that period and that she would be freer than in the past to undertake this.

9. I proposed to postpone my departure until about June 15 in order to make necessary arrangements for the Curium program.

Dr. G. Roger Edwards Assistant Curator
