Handwritten: Kourion Correspondence
June 23. 1953
Dear Mr. Hill:
Many thanks for your letter and the enclosures, the note from George and so forth. The note from George about the servants is superseded by the will. On the other hand, I understand from the attorney, is superceded by the will. I am sure the girls will gladly settle accounts with all the servants from the Philanthropic Bequest. We will take care of the bills for books. Also I am just today forwarding the $145.00 to your account in the Corn Exchange Bank. There may be a little delay in this since we've just set up a new account for Roger, and I had no blank checks on that account. However, I am trying to make a transfer by letter to the Chase National Bank.
The $10,000.00 grant to Curium excavations from George's bequest is now paid into the Museum's account, and we had already deposited $2,500.00 to that account from our other research funds. Certainly John Ewing, the executor of the estate, is very friendly to us, and he greatly appreciates reports you have sent in. I believe I wrote you that he is arranging to give us out of the Philanthropic Bequest money to buy all George's personal equipment at Curium for the Museum. Also I still want to talk with the sisters about help on publication funds.
As far as I can see, everything is going well with our plans to complete Curium. As you probably know, Mrs. Thompson is coming on here for the first semester to handle the courses while Roger and Rodney are away.
Again many thanks to you, and my very best wishes.
As ever.
