June 23, 1953Dear Mr. Ewing:

Attached is the letter from Mr. Hill, the "to whom it may concern" letter from George, and a check for $49.40 which was not honored after George's death. These are that papers I spoke to you about over the phone on Monday.

Under the first point it would seem to me that we should make good the $49.40 check from our Curium account if the books there are to be a legacy to the University Museum. If that is the case would you kindly return the check so that I can make payment?

Under the second point is the letter from George about bequests to his staff there. I assume that is superseded by George's will as you stated on the phone so nothing more needs to be done about that. As for adding something to the other persons listed by Mr. Hill, of course I can only say that that is a matter for Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Ewing but I know that Mr. Hill was probably one of George's best friends and would certainly know what George intended.

Under point three, do these figures of George's investments check with yours from the council? I presume they are identical since you must have the same figures supplied to the council by Mr. Hill.

Under point five, of course we will deposit those funds to Mr. Hill's account. Do you see anything else in this letter that needs attention from one of us? If so, please let me know.

Yours,
