December 3, 1952Dear George:
I was glad to have your letter of November 18. I am sorry that I have been so long in replying. It seems to me quite all right to publish the tomb in the monograph series if it is of sufficient size. These monographs came out, as you know, under title and author and should be up to forty or fifty pages. In any case the tomb sounds exciting.
Both Rodney and I are very much interested in getting a fine mosaic here in the Museum, but in order to appropriate another two-hundred pounds to Curium I will have to get Board action. I think probably we will be ready to submit a recommendation to the Board at this month's meeting, but I would like to discuss it a little further with Rodney. There would be no question if we were sure of getting the mosaic, but as I understand this we are sort of gambling two-hundred pounds on whether you find another one or not. In any case we should be able to let you know in a couple of weeks.
Everything is going very well here, and you will probably be amused to know that we are putting Dikios on television next Sunday. He is bringing his wife and daughter down for a cocktail party at the Barringers, and for supper with us. This TV can be very amusing. Last Sunday we had a Catholic priest identify a headdress as a minnow trap.
Please give Joe my best regards, and tell him I do envy you two up there particularly now with bad weather settling in on Philadelphia. When are you coming home again?
Sincerely,
Froelich G. Rainey Director
