April 25, 1952Dear Saul -

I wrote to Rodney about the matter of your using some of the Bamboula material in an article you plan. He has answered that he is all in favor of your doing so. I guess that is all you need for going ahead with it. Sounds very interesting.

Ellen, Dorothy Hannah and I are holding down the fort while Rodney is in Turkey. He's been gone since March 1. No excavation news as yet, but it should be good when it comes since he's concentrating on elusive burials in tumuli. Machteld is going out sometime in May to polish off our Hittite cemetery for publication.

We haven't forgotten your Bamboula prints. It's just a matter of priorities and bottlenecks. If you'd like to mention a deadline for your purposes it might perhaps help us to get them pushed through.

We hear bits of good news of you and yours occasionally, the Archaeology editorship and the advanced stage of gestation of the Minor Finds of GR. Many good wishes and congratulations!

Yours,

Handwritten: Roger

I didn't succeed in connecting with Gladys' Turkish friend last year, though the package did get delivered. I had a series of fascinating letters from the lady though. I think I'll have to try again next time.
