I think unless something untoward turns up that we will have our long deferred neolithic "dig" next month. You will remember that this was to be a joint "dig" with the Cyprus Department of Antiquities. Trial trenches were sunk on the site two years ago. The results looked promising so it was decided to go ahead with the clearing of the central area of the site on the hill overlooking the small village of Sotira about four miles north of Episkopi. The University Museum and the Cyprus Museum are sharing the expenses, as you know, and half the finds are to go to Philadelphia. I am expecting Deke back in ten days or so. I hear from Rodney that he is very much better. Mr. Hill is Executive Director of the Fulbright Fund in Greece this year and is doubtful as to whether he will be able to come down this spring except for a short visit. I may fly over to Athens for a short visit in March when Rodney is there and I may go on with Rodney to see his "dig" at Gordion on my way back. My "spotted friends", as Rodney calls them, are still in Quarantine and I see them only for about half an hour once a month. They appear to be in fine shape, however. If I am here next winter I hope to use them for partridges.
