June 14, 1951Dear George:
Bob Stevens just arrived back here and we have his films on Cyprus. The movies aren't so good. Apparently he over-exposed a lot of them but I think they can be cut down to a very good film. Perhaps you can do this when you get back and make up a nice film on the excavations there. We haven't yet received his black and whites from Cyprus. In this connection he says that the Customs people in Cyprus assured him that we should not pay the Customs charges of £ 64.15.7 because he re-exported all the film. Do you think you could recover this for us? I gather Mrs. Robbins is just sending you a check to cover your expenses on this item.
This is just a note since I assume you will be returning here soon. I just hope to catch you with this before you leave.
I have just called Dr. Eisenhart on the telephone and learn that he wants to publish Fales paper in the Proceedings of the Philosophical Society with illustrations which we have already sent him of the Theater. However, he tells me that Fales will have to enlarge this paper to make it more comprehensive so as to fit in with the other papers in the Proceedings. He doesn't specify the exact length which is pretty much left up to Fales. Would you tell Deke about this and let me know what his plans are so I can report back to Dr. Eisenhart?
Best wishes,
Froelich Rainey
