CURIUM EXCAVATIONS EPISKOPI, LIMASSOL CYPRUS
19th May, 1951Mr. Don Burke, Life Magazine, 9 Rockefeller, New York, N.Y. U.S.A.
Dear Mr. Burke:-
As you know Bob Stevens has been with us for the last ten days to photograph our excavations at Curium. He has asked me to write a brief survey of our work here to accompany the photos which are enclosed herewith. He left here by air this morning for Ankara. He was particularly anxious to have [handwritten: photos] go off immediately, so it has not been possible to write anything but a very rough sketch of our work. I hope it may at least help to serve the purpose for which it is intended. You will appreciate how difficult it is to condense at a moments notice so much material from various sites in a brief account. If you can use his photos I will be glad to answer any questions you may wish to send me. Bob tells me he has already sent you the captions for each photograph. These should be checked with us if time permits. I will be here until the end of June when I leave for home. I hope to be at my home address, Villa Nova, Pa. by the 10th of July. Any letters addressed to me after June 25th, therefore, had better be sent to my home address.
Very sincerely yours,
Handwritten: George McFadden

P.S. I am sending you under separate cover a map of the area and two plans showing the more important buildings in greater detail.
