21st April, 1949Very many thanks for the Export Licence in duplicate enclosed with your letter of April 16th, and for the nine lables to be attached to the cases.

I am enclosing a cheque for the amount of fifteen shillings and three piastres, £ 0.15.3, thirteen shillings, and three piastres £- 0.13.3 for the Sotira compensation, and two shillings £0.2.0, for the fee.

I have been asked by the American Numismatic Society to represent them with regard to the acquisition of the Gunther collection of coins and other antiquities now deposited in an iron chest in the Vaults of the Ottoman Bank at Nicosia. If you are planning to come down here within the next month or so we might discuss the matter. If not, I will try and come up to see you about it at your convenience sometime within the next few weeks. As you may know Gunther's grandson has decided to present his collection to the [handwritten: society that is] if you are prepared to permit the greater part of it to leave the island. The society has sent me the key to the chest along with some correspondence, receipts, and other documents.

The Director of Antiquities, Cyprus Museum, Nicosia.
