NOTE OF UNIVERSITY MUSEUM JEEP IN CYPRUS.

USE IN CYPRUS: The licensing procedure was more complicated and expensive than had been anticipated. The Customs would not let the Jeep into the island on the triptique as that was in the name of Dr Daniel and became "invalid on his death." They did, however, admit it in the name of the American Consul, as a visitors' car. (Special permission is necessary for the importation and circulation, after four months, of a left hand drive vehicle. This Jeep had to be registered and licensed in the ordinary way. On 31 January it was handed back to the Cyprus Museum garage and the license was handed back: stored in the Cyprus Museum garage and the license was handed back to a port for export the formalities. If it is driver straight from the museum to a port for export but if it is to be used Police will probably waive the formalities if it may need to be relicensed. (The Police for other Jomies in Cyprus it may need to be relicensed.) may accept a new triptique as sufficient but they don't seem to be used to triptiques.)

STORAGE: The Director of Antiquities has undertaken to have the Jeep cleared and chocked up, the tyre pressures reduced to half and the battery emptied.

SPARES: No spares are available here and the following items are needed:

Left side curtain (i.e. driver's side) Rear curtain Headlight glass lockwasher for rear end of siderail (supporting canvas roof)

The rear lamp was damaged in transit and the local garage has not succeeded in repairing it. A new one may be necessary.
