February 25, 1949Dear George:
It seems to me a very decent idea you just had about doing something for Alix. It happens that she has been hit much harder as time goes on than she was with the first blow and I gather she is not doing well at all. She We have all felt something should be done but nobody knows quite what. She is having lunch with Marian next week and I have suggested that Marian find out if going to Cyprus would help somewhat. She has discussed going to Paris to stay with a friend and to get away from this familiar scene. It may be that that would help more than going to Cyprus and if so I will certainly advise you. Of course we will keep your name out of this and simply speak as if it were the Museum contributing the travel fund. A great many thanks for your offer.
I believe you have our cable regarding insurance on the Jeep. I hope you can manage to arrange for theft insurance in Cyprus since the insurance company here tells us that they cannot arrange it here in the United States. I see no reason why Angel should not use it but it would be too bad to have it operate without adequate insurance. I have just heard from Rodney that he will probably be down to see you on his way to Turkey in April and so I hope you can introduce him to Kourion and get him familiar with that job. I can see he doesn't really want to mess around with Kourion but it is obvious he is going to have to learn a lot about it. Please give Hilland Fales my very best wishes.
As ever,
