which were frequent on pots, and repacked everything in order. You will be pleased to know that the eighteen pots which were missing on your count have now been reduced to a single amphora, which we have not as yet found. When we return to Episkopi, we shall start on the shelved tombs in earnest.

I spoke to Joe about the questions you raised, and he says that (a) our theodolite reads right side up, (b) Kohinoor pencils have just come onto the market here at 8 cp. and will do unless those you can get are substantially cheaper, and (c) the millimeter paper you have is enough. Apparently neither Joe nor Christophis will be with us this summer, although I think Joe would have been pleased enough to spend a month or so had he been given a specific job to do. It occurs to me that you might possibly want to write to him about the matter of numbering, drawing, and clearing the blocks from Apollo "Street One Area".

We have been hard at work going over the Museum's terracottas, we are under a tin roof and get thoroughly baked every day, but have already had some remarkably good results. We have found one imported prototype from which one of our face-molds was stolen - some thing we had scarcely hoped to get here, and have also found quite a number of Curium terracottas from other sites on the south coast. It is discouraging to find that almost no provenience were recorded here previous to 1935. Still, we are learning a lot. We are very much hoping that when you come next Fall, definite plans can be formulated as to how and where we can do the necessary library work to complete this job, and on what scale the terracottas can be published. We have spent so long on them that you will appreciate how important this is to us and our future.

I'll write again in about two weeks time, or earlier if anything develops, and meanwhile look forward to hearing from you. Best greetings from all three of us.
