Athens, 14 August 1947.

Dear John:

Home again ... [illegible] ... August 4th ... [illegible] ... I should have answered your letter of July 28 long ago, but I have been busy with the Kaloriziki and Bamboula trenches, and the weather has been very warm and rather hard on us all. I want to thank you for the things you sent, and for the kind words about the work at Kourion. The sherds from the Episkopi trenches are packed and I think the Museum will have them by the end of the month. As to the coins from the Sanctuary of Apollo, I have not yet had time to clean them, but I will do so and write you again when the list is complete.

You will be glad to hear that the palace excavation is going forward well, and that we have found the floor of the basilica. The stadium trench has given little, but it may still answer some of our questions. I will send the plans as soon as they are drawn up.

[illegible] ... Mersinoudhia ... St. Hermogenes ... [illegible]

With best wishes to yourself and to all at the Museum,
