July 26, 1947Dear Mr. McFadden:
It does not seem possible that the accounts can be so confused. To begin with my figures, that I have just compiled, do not agree with you or the University. I think you have omitted your December 17, 1946 contribution of 125 pounds sterling - on my May 4 statement the University has as $500 deposited in the Ottoman Bank. The University has also omitted this sum, but I will not be able to ask them about this until Tuesday; they being closed today and we on Monday. Then you have on your statement of July 23 $1000, check #600 deposited January 30 of which I, and therefore the University, have no record. After we get these things straightened out, we should be able to get really accurate figures.
One of the reasons you have gotten confused by the University's statement is that they record your checks deposited in the Ottoman Bank at a much later date than the actual deposit - and the same with our contributions. At any rate they are right as far as the actual balance goes, but I won't attempt to explain that until the Treasurer's trail and send you a new report, I hope I haven't confused you utterly and on Tuesday will get on the Treasurer's trail and send you a new report, which should be accurate.
Sincerely yours,
