April 18, 1947Dear Mr. McFadden:

The Board of Managers were loud in their praises of your generosity when I told them of your latest gift to the Curium Excavations Fund and so appreciative of your contribution of one thousand dollars for some other Museum project. I think you know how pleased I am and also how flattered that you left the disposition of it to me. By this time I am sure you have discovered that the check was not enclosed in your letter but I just wanted to call your attention to it in case it had dropped out there.

We have directed that one thousand dollars, which was approved by the Board, be deposited to the Curium Fund here for the neolithic dig and we will await your orders as to how it shall be paid. I think it is an excellent idea both as an arguing point and as a friendly gesture and I am delighted you made the suggestion.

Dr. Daniel tells me your paper is excellent. Congratulations and I am looking forward to its publication.

Again many, many thanks for your unfailing generosity and with kindest regards, I am

Very sincerely,
